 Dimanche 5 août. Le jour se lève sur une longue journée. Nous effectuons un tour en voiture pour voir des nouveaux paysages. Les chanceux sont Filip et Emilka, qui vont découvrir les Connemara National Park. Jean-Loup, Raphaël et moi-même les accompagnons. Nous partons vers 10h00 au matin pour une traversée du Connemara. Filip profite du voyage pour prendre quelques photos « à la volée ». Premier arrêt : Kylemore Abbey. Jean-Loup est tombé amoureux de ce château la veille. C’est un endroit évidemment très touristique, mais cette abbaye vaut vraiment le coup d’œil. D’ailleurs vous pouvez profitez des photos pour admirer le site. Elle est située entre des collines, ce qui rend le lieu « wonderful ».

Ensuite, nous laissons Emilka et Filip au Connemara National Park. Ils vont y faire la traditionnelle balade du parfait touriste et admirer le panorama en haut de Diamond Hill. Jean-Loup, Raphaël et moi-même décidons d’aller voir la Sky Road, le beau temps est avec nous, autant en profiter. La Sky Road est une route partant de Clifden qui longe la baie. La vue est magnifique, et on peut admirer la mer, le paysage. Si le soleil est de la parti, les couleurs peuvent être intéressantes, et on arrive à avoir de bonnes photos !! On se rejoint tous les cinq, et nous allons à Achill Island, comme prévu avant notre départ. C’est la première fois que nous allons là-bas. D’après le guide du routard, cette île est décrite comme grande, avec des très belles falaises mais peu touristique !! L’île est reliée à l’Irlande par un pont. Le trajet est long et on arrive sur place en fin d’après-midi. Nous décidons de faire l’Atlantic Road, une route qui longe la côte sud. Des le premier kilomètre, on se rend compte à tel point le paysage est vraiment magnifique, et la vue sur la mer aussi. Premier arrêt, nous sommes comme des gamins qui découvrent la mer pour la première fois. Beaucoup de rocher, des vagues assez impressionnantes, la côte est superbe. Nous profitons pour faire un maximum de photos. Nous trouvons également des moutons, au final, pas si effrayés que cela de la hauteur des falaises ; mais fallait-il le rappeler !!

Nous reprenons la route. Le prochain arrêt n’est pas si loin, on aperçoit une plage. La mer est très claire, j’avoue ne pas m’attendre à cela avant de venir !

Par la suite, nous débarquons, à la fin de la route, sur un seconde plage. Derrière, on peut voir à quel point ça grimpe, et on se demande si on devrait pas essayer d’y aller à pieds, pour voir se qui se cache derrière (des falaises… !!) Et quelle surprise, en effet, on arrive en haut et on voit un magnifique panorama sur la mer, et comble de bonheur, c’est le moment du coucher du Soleil. N’hésitez pas à voir les photos !!Nous partons de l’île vers 10h00 ; Nous effectuons un stop un peu avant minuit, à Westport, histoire de grignoter, et nous rentrons tranquillement sur Galway, après cette journée éprouvante !!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunday August 5. The day rose for a long day. We went for a tour by car to see new landscapes. The lucky were Filip and Emilka, which will discover Connemara National Park. Jean-Loup, Raphaël and me joint them. We left towards 10h00 in the morning for a crossing Connemara. Filip took some pictures. First stop: Kylemore Abbey. Jean-Loup fell in love with this castle the day before. It is a place obviously very touristic, but you have to take a look at this abbey

Moreover, you can profit of the pictures to admire the site. It is located between hills, which makes the place "wonderful ".

Then, we left Emilka and Filip at the Connemara National Park. They made the traditional walk for perfect tourist and admired the panorama in top of Diamond Hill. Jean-Loup, Raphaël and me decided to see the Sky Road; the good weather was with us, to benefit of it as much. Sky Road is a road on the basis of Clifden which skirts bay. The sight is splendid, and we could admire the sea, the landscape. If the sun is with you, the colors can be interesting, and, as for us, we succeeded to have good pictures!! All of us went in Achill Island, as envisaged before our departure. It was the first time that we went over there. According to the guide of routard, this island is described like large, with very beautiful cliffs but not very touristic!! The island is connected to Ireland by a bridge. The way to go there was long and we arrived in the end of the afternoon. We decided to make the Atlantic Road, a road which skirts the southern coast. First kilometer, we realized that the landscape was really splendid, and the sight on the sea too. First stop, we were as kids who discover the sea for the first time. We profited to do an utmost of pictures. We also found sheeps, eventually, not frightened enough by the height of cliffs; but had it to be pointed out!!

We took again the road. The next stop was not so far, we saw a beach. The sea was very clear, I acknowledge not to await at this kind of landscapes before coming !

Afterward, we unloaded, at the end of the road, on a second beach. Behind, we could see at which point that climbs, and we wondered whether we shouldn’t try to go there by feet, in order to see who hides behind (cliffs...!). And what a surprise!! Indeed, we arrived in top and we saw a splendid panorama on the sea, and roof of happiness, it is the moment of laying down Sun. Do not hesitate to see the pictures!! We left the island towards 10h00; we made a stop a little before midnight, in Westport, so as to nibble, and we returned quietly on Galway, after this testing day!!

Galway races

This week it's the Galway horses races. We don't go yet, but we went to the city centre. There was so many people in the street, some music player, some showmans, and so much people in pub.

*We tried a new pub: the Front Door. It's huge pub with a lot of little room.

 

Weather

It was too good to stay a long time!!! The sun stayed in Ireland but just for 3 days!!

 

C'était trop beau pour durer longtemps le soleil nous a quitter après trois jours de présence permenante.  

July, Sunday 29: The Burren Tour

We decided to do the Burren day tour and the sun went with us. In the bus, the driver talked about the different places and the pub where he goes after his work day.

Firstly, we went to the Aillwee Cave. We stayed here for about an hour. It was 8 Euros for the visit, consequently, we stayed outside.

We went then to the Poulnabrone Dolmen. In fact it’s a portal tomb. The stone on the top is really heavy, about 1.5tons. Geologically, the floor is very surprising. It was create by the huge glaciers.

After this, the driver went in the direction of the Cliffs of Moher. These Cliffs are very impressive. The high is about 210m. We ate behind the cliffs some bread with cheddar. Then, we walked along the cliffs and we saw a lot of people go behind the sign where is written: “don’t go beyond this point”. We understood why, beyond the sign it’s not safe at all! There is any wall. After, we went to take a coffee there was a big queue but we had time we stayed here for 2 hours!

We were going to Doolin, not exactly the city but near the sea. It was great, we saw other cliffs but smaller than the Cliffs of Moher.

After sleeping on the bus, we stopped for a last time to take others pictures!

We came back at Galway at 6pm.

 

En ce jour ensoleillé, nous avons décidé de faire le tour du Burren en bus. Le chauffeur bien sympa parlait de tout et de rien, genre du pub où il va après le travail, l’hôpital bon secours prononcé avec l’accent c’est marrant, le tour de France quand on croisait un cycliste. 

Tout d’abord, nous avons été au cave d’Aillwee, nous ne sommes pas rentrés; en effet 8 euros pour voir des os d’ours et des stalactites peut-être à ce qu’on a compris.

Ensuite, nous sommes allés aux Cliffs of Moher. Ces falaises sont vraiment très impressionnantes, elles font 212m de haut ! On a mangé devant les falaises du pain enfin du pain de mie avec du fromage enfin du cheddar. Ensuite on a marché le long des falaises. On a pu voir que les gens ont pas trop peur du vide ils passent les panneaux d’interdiction et marchent le long de la falaise. On a ensuite été prendre un café, on a du faire la queue leu leu mais on avait le temps on est resté 2heures.

On se dirige ensuite vers Doolin, auprès de la mer, il y avait de jolies falaises ici aussi.

Après avoir dormi dans le bus, on s’est arrêté pour prendre des photos. Nous sommes rentrés à 6h, après une bonne journée.

July, Saturday 28

          We went to the Galway city Museum. In the entry of the museum, there were a young jazz group it was good. In the museum, the most impressive thing was the Hooker boat on the museum. The pictures for the Museum are available here. 

         On the evening, we went to a pub the Monroe’s Tavern. There was typical Irish music. Aniz tried to dance on this music. She danced with an old man who danced really well, but he fell on the floor, with a Slovak one. The Slovak guy was dancing typical Slovak song and it seemed to dance typical Irish song! He tried to dance like the other but it was a real sport. She didn’t have breathe enough to dance like that. But, at the end, when she wents to the toilets all the girl said her: “you dance very well!”. We know now why the Irish guy never dances, they must be drunk to dance finally, they are like the French, aren't they?

          Emilka, Filip, Ryan and Maciek spent their time to discuu around the table with pints of Guinness of course! Maciek met a sympatic girl!

 

 

 

          On a été au Musée de Galway. A l’entrée, il y avait un groupe de jazz. La chanteuse avait une voix assez étonnante un peu comme Patricia Kaas.

        Dans le musée, la chose la plus impressionnante était sans doute l’énorme Hooker construit spécialement pour le musée. Un Hooker est un bateau traditionnel spécifique de la ville de Galway, une description plus détaillée est disponible ici. On s’est demandé comment ils ont fait pour le mettre ici ! Les pièces suivantes sont typiques d’un musée avec des photos, des reliques, quelques sculptures.

        Le soir, on a été au Monroe’s Tavern où il passe de la musique typiquement irlandaise. Aniz a essayé de danser dessus. Elle a dansé avec un vieux qui dansait bien, avec un slovaque. Le slovaque dansait de la musique slovaque et on aurait dit qu’il dansait une danse irlandaise. Aniz a essayé de danser quelque chose avec eux mais c’est épuisant, elle sautait dans tous les sens, il faut qu'elle refasse un peu de sport (d'après Aniz). Mais quand elle a été aux toilettes, toutes les filles lui disaient qu'elle dansait bien. Désormais, on sait pourquoi les irlandais ne dansent pas, ils ont besoin d’être bourré pour danser, finalement, c’est comme les français, n'est-ce pas?

Sunday 22, July Parade

 

         Ce WE, c'était la fameuse parade de Galway!! Parade qui vient clotûrer le Arts Festival! Ce qui était plus ou moins un défilé de kermesse! Mais avec un peu de clowns, de danse et Ryan a particulièrement apprécié les policières!

        Les rues étaient bondées, il y avait énormément de monde et à ce qu'il parait, ce n'est rien à comparer à la foule qu'il y aura pour les Galway races du 30 juillet au 5 aout.  

 

 

Biere contest - Beer contest

Enfin, après plusieurs essais infructueux, nous avons réussi la mise en place du bière contest : Polonais versus French. Effectivement, cela donne l’impression d’un patriotisme de part et d’autre mais les règles sont ainsi faites… Par équipe de trois joueurs, le combat fût âpre et tendu, mais une équipe a réussi à se distinguer, je ne vous dit pas laquelle, vous jugerez par vous-même. Un grand moment parmi notre stage, et j’espère que ce ne sera pas le dernier. (Merci à Sébastien, Mathieu, Filip, Macek & Jacek). N'oubliez pas la vidéo sur la cum-cum en cliquant ici.

Lastly, after several unsuccessful tests, we made a success of the installation of the beer contest: Polish versus French. Indeed, that gives the impression of patriotism on both sides but the rules are thus made... By team of three players, the combat rough and was tended, but a team succeeded in being distinguished, I does not say to you which one, you will judge by yourself. A great moment among our training course, and I hope that it will not be the last. (Thanks to Sébastien, Mathieu, Filip, Macek and Jacek).

The Connemara Tour

We went (Pilou, Sebou, Ryan & Aniz) on a tour of Connemara with the Pilou Pocket Car. Before going on the road, we went to the Dunnes Store in order to buy the tourist necessary sucha as a tent and foods. Pilou, the conductor, drives at the left in the direction of Clifden. Before, we stop at a little Coral beach and like the Ryan’s book says, we went in the direction of the hill : Ben Lettery, one of the Twelve Bens. We tried to climb this mountain. We didn’t go till the top because it is really hard to climb, but just at the half of this mountain, the point of view was so beautiful.

Afterwards, we continued our tour. On the road, we noticed that it’s writing that we can go at 100km/h but, this road is so bad that in reality, it's impossible to drive over than 60km/h. We went to Clifden where there is a beautiful “Dirac” and Sebou spent all his money in a gift shop. After Clifden, The Connemara National Park is a place impossible to forget. Over there, there is some way for pedestrians. In this link, there is some information if you want to visit this place. We choosed to do the longest one. A woman, who we met at the Park's entrance, told us that we could make the longest way  in 2h30 just for 6,7km; it was a real surprise so we were thinking we will do this in less than 2h30.

Finally, we understood quickly that this way is very hard; and we must climb some stairs made with big stones. That's why, we did some breaks. We were lucky, because the weather was beatiful for a such ballade. There is too much sun for Sebou, because his face was red. Finally, at the top of this Diamond Hill (the main hill of the park), we saw a very beautiful view. A big part of the Connemara could be watched. You have to do this yourself, because the pictures don’t show how beautiful it is.

In the evening, we ate in a restaurant in Leenane. We think that Irish people like spicy food because all of the menus are spicy. It’s good.

After this meal, we tried to find a place where we can sleep in our mobile home. After a lot of road, we found a place when it is dark. It’s a place in a field at the foot of a mountain and near the sheep. We build the tent, we drunk some beer and we went to bed!!! We were 4 for a tent of 3 person, it was funny; but it's an adventure. Pilou tried to stress us with some noise outside!!! At 4h30, we wake up with a sheep who call his baby. And finally, we slept till 8h45.

When we woke up, we saw a different view than the previous evening. In the evening, we was thinking that there is some trees but when in the morning the surprise was nice. It was really beautiful but without any tree.

After, we went to visit the Connemara’s lake. There are two main lakes : Lough Derg & Lough Corrib. We tried to find the good road. The way to go to the correct place was very hard to find because there was no signal. Sebou, with his map and with chance, guided us to the Corrib’s lake. It’s beautiful.

After a break in Oughterard, we returned on Galway. Sebou and Pilou must drive for 5 hours again.

Today we say bye to Charlotte. It's her last day here. For this event, we show to the polish guy a famous game the beer contest. they are in 2 teams of 3 persons they have to drink their beer faster than the other team. The french team composes of Seb, Mathieu, and Ryan win 2 times against the polish. After that we do a "cum cum" for 12 min.

Wednesday 11, July

Today, we go to the cinema, we watch shrek with ryan, charlotte and Aniz. It was really funny especially for Aniz, of course.

Pauline has already seen this movie so they go on the over cinema to see Harry Potter at midnight.

Midday, Charlotte and me ate in Taffes. A good well furnished meal, and really not expensive : 4euros 75. I profit of the occasion to drink a new Guinness. We spend a good moment with Charlotte because it does not remain a lot of days before she leaves us.

Tuesday 10, July

Aniz and Ryan succeed on our exam, we go on the third year, yeh.  So we buy some beers, of course, Guiness and Carlsberg. hum...

And all the frenchies went on the city center but to late. All the pub close at midnigh. So we went back. But we (Charlotte & Aniz & Ryan) met an Deutsh guy, some frenchs, 2 australians they look like real australians. 

Monday 9, July

 

Mathieu success on his study. Next year he will be in the next class. Cool, so we must do a party for this. He pays his Guinness biers. We eat a chocolate cake (hum…). We go to the coilis toi something like this. It’s a pub where is some typical irish songs.

Aujourd’hui il fait encore beau. On peut pas beaucoup sortir le soleil nous crame trop. Le soir on fait un barbecue sur la plage. Notre dernière soirée avec Qbalka elle part ce soir d’ailleurs désolé mais on va se mettre à écrire en anglais pour elle. On va voir si on aura un nouveau coloc.

Saturday 7, July

On va aux îles d’Aran. Lever assez dur après la soirée, on se fait nos sandwiches pour manger le midi sur place. On part, il ne pleut pas. Apres 10m, il pleut à fond jamais vu ça il pleut au final de 9h10 à 9h30, c'est-a-dire quand on était dehors. Qui de nous porte la poisse?? Du coup, on était trempés, Charlotte sautait dans les flaques d'eau, quite a etre mouiller. Arrive dans le bus, il nepleut plus, il fait même beau. 40 minutes de bus, on fait finalement le long de la cote pour arriver au port. On prend le Ferry, il y a beaucoup de vent mais on reste tout de meme dehors sur le pont pour admirer le paysage magnifique. Le trajet est assez court et on arrive sur la plus grande île Inishmore apres 40 minutes. On loue des vélos, et Mathieu & Pauline loue un tandem c’est marrant. La visite peut commencer. Au depart, on est perdu on ne sait pas comment demarrer notre periple, du coup on suit la route et les chemins pour sortir du port.

Le temps est magnifique et on en profite pour faire beacuoup de photos. C’est chouette, les paysages sont magnifiques, mais les photos ne rendent pas un apercu aussi bien que la réalité.  Pour Aniz, la casquette était de sortie heureusement qu’on lui offert une casquette, elle avait perdu sa casquette Ouest France. Comme elle dit si bien :" je suis dégoutée bon en tout cas j’ai moins de coup de soleil que les autres." Le soir, on effectue le memet trajet que pour l'aller, on rentre  beaucoup épuisé. Charlotte et Ryan ont dormi dans le ferry, et dans le bus, c'est tout le monde qui s'est endormi!!!

Arrive a la maison, on peut comparer les differentes teints de peau : du rouge vif au rouge brulant. Bref, les coups de soleil ne nous ont pas epargnes!

        Ah jour génialissime, EH oui c’est mon anniversaire. J’ai des cadeaux assez exceptionnels en cette journée : un chapeau rose, une écharpe avec Queen of the Night écrit dessus. Queen of the Night ???? et oui c’est moi, et pi une casquette Guinness yahoo trop bien merci les gens vous êtes trop gentils.

        La soirée débute à 7h00 pm heureusement. On a pris l’apéro avec les polonais, apéro ??? cuite plutôt. Nouvelle manière de boire la vodka et pas des moindres, tu prends un shooter de vodka pour (la Zubrovska de préférence elle est trop bonne) suivi de près d’un peu de jus de pomme et bin c’est super bon. Ah oui au fait on a bu 2L de vodka dans la soirée à 10, mais on a tellement bu vite!! On a poursuivi par des bières. Cela permet de montrr a quel point le GE est fort au biere contest, merci Ryan! Ensuite, nous avons été dans le centre et on file au Cuba club. Ryan se fait refouler comme quoi il avait trop bu, n’importe quoi. Comme c’était pas vrai, il a insulté les videurs en français, c’était marrant. Mais au final il n'a pas pu rentrer, et pourtant Qbalka a tout tenter mais sans reussite. ( Il y a une fille qui passait par la, et qui voyaient que je n'arrivais pas a rentrer, a pris ma main et a essayer de m'entrtainer avec elle dans la boite, elle me caresser les cheveux, c'etait ma foi asssez sympatique; mais cela resta sans reussite). Comme les premiers avait payé bin est resté dedans alors ils ont été au living room. Au final, c’est une boite comme en France donc rien d’exceptionnel autant aller dans les pubs avec des concerts gratuits et geniaux!! 

Thursday 5, July

 

Dans la journée, Charlotte, Pauline et Mathieu vont voir les Cliffs of Moher avec KT Thunstall la collègue de Mathieu. Le soir après avoir acheter un Taboo et bin… on y joue avec les polonais c’est bien marrant.

 

Wednesday 4, July

On joue au dick avec les polonais, c’est un jeu de cartes qui ressemble au trou du cul mais un peu différent, et pi un peu de bataille corse, tout en buvant un peu de biere.
